We are thrilled to have you join us today, welcome to ValiantCEO Magazine’s exclusive interview! Let’s start off with a little introduction. Tell our readers a bit about yourself and your company.

Andrew Rader: Thank you for the opportunity to speak to your ValiantCEO Magazine’s readers. I’m a Long Island kid, and I went to SUNY Binghamton. I graduated as an economics and political science major and after college worked on Capitol Hill for 2 years. Then I was a public defender in the Bronx for 10 years, but also spent some of that time doing personal injury and medical malpractice law. In 2000, I moved to Florida, where I have been helping people get money and vindication for wrongs that were done to them by others with or through carelessness (such as in personal injury actions) or intention (such as breaches of contract).

For the years I have been privileged to become a Super Lawyer and to be rated as a preeminent lawyer by Martindale Hubbell. I am also a member of the Multi-million Dollar Advocates Forum, an invitation open only to attorneys who have resolved cases in excess of $2 million.

But my most cherished professional achievement was to become one of less than 1% of Florida lawyers who is board certified in civil trial law. This designation is the only non-license credential recognized by the Florida Supreme Court and is only obtained through demonstrated actual trial experience, excellent references from judges and colleagues, and a written examination.

On the personal side, I am married to my wife of nearly 40 years, Meryl Rome, MD and have two children- Spencer, a West Point graduate who is studying to become an electrician, and Hannah, an aspiring writer in Brooklyn. My favorite hobbies are skiing, woodworking and piano.

If you were in an elevator with Warren Buffett, how would you describe your company, your services or products? What makes your company different from others? What is your company’s biggest strength?

Andrew Rader: If I were in an elevator with Warren Buffett with such limited time, I would be asking questions rather than answering them. That being said, I would describe Rader Law Group as a company that uses the law to provide the value of justice, which is provided in the form of money to my clients. My company’s biggest strength is that we can provide exceptional results without charging outlandish fees.

Quiet quitting, The Great Resignation, is an ongoing trend causing many businesses to struggle to keep talent engaged and motivated. Most are leaving because of their boss or their company culture. 82% of people feel unheard, undervalued, and misunderstood in the workplace. In your experience, what keeps employees happy? And how are you adapting to the current shift we see?

Andrew Rader: Being seen and heard is important. Period. That’s why I make it a point to ask my employees on a regular basis about their personal, professional and financial goals. It’s vital to keep the lines of communication open so that they know their goals are important and being considered in the global vision of the company. Going to a job that is boring and unfulfilling is horrible and drains the motivation out of you. At Rader Law Group, one of our mission statements is to help our clients achieve the best possible outcome. It’s no different for our employees. We evaluate the short- and long-term aspirations of our employees and actively seek feedback. We also offer career development opportunities by sending staff to seminars and conventions. When a challenging event occurs in the life of an employee, we discuss flexible work arrangements to support a work-life balance.

Online business keeps on surging higher than ever, B2B, B2C, online shopping, virtual meetings, remote work, Zoom medical consultations, what are your expectations for the year to come and how are you capitalizing on the tidal wave?

Andrew Rader: Even as technology changes and emerges, businesses are fundamentally about relationships and people. Today, hearings that were previously held in the courtroom are held by Zoom. New lawyers are no longer sitting next to their adversaries discussing their cases, getting to know one another in developing the relationships they will need as a career progresses. In the next year, we will continue to use Zoom, integrate artificial intelligence and more automatic systems where appropriate. However, we will also be focusing on good old-fashioned telephone calls to our clients to make sure they are being taken care of.

Business is all about overcoming obstacles and creating opportunities for growth. What do you see as THE real challenge right now?

Andrew Rader: The challenge for any business is striking the right balance between having a strong digital presence while maintaining the personal connection and trust that clients expect. For example, social media is an important tool that makes people feel connected with a product or service. However, it’s also noisy and full of misinformation, which makes it harder for people to know where to turn for reliable advice. At Rader Law Group, our focus is on cutting through that noise with clear, honest communication and staying true to our core values – putting our clients’ needs first and fighting to ensure that they receive fair compensation and justice.

In your experience, what tends to be the most underestimated part of running a company? Can you share an example?

Andrew Rader: By far, one of the most underestimated parts is developing relationships with people. Networking is a vital part of business, and you shouldn’t limit yourself to people within your industry. I remember a few years ago, I was invited to an event, but I was reluctant to go because there weren’t going to be a lot of lawyers there. Luckily, a colleague convinced me to give it a shot and I wound up speaking to someone whose family member recently got into a car accident. They weren’t sure what their rights were, so I scheduled a meeting with them a few days later. While I can’t disclose the exact amount that the client won due to confidentiality, it is fair to say that justice was served on behalf of my client. So, never underestimate the value of putting yourself out there and establishing connections that can lead to successful business ventures.

On a lighter note, if you had the ability to pick any business superpower, what would it be and how would you put it into practice?

Andrew Rader: Like everyone, I would squeeze more time into 24 hours. But because that is impossible, I would like to use my education and experience in law superpower to help more people profoundly and monetarily.

What does “success” in 2024 mean to you? It could be on a personal or business level, please share your vision

Andrew Rader: Success means waking up every morning, managing whatever comes your way effectively and then coming home at night to a loving home. It means achieving professional growth while still reaching personal goals. Success comes in different sizes and it’s just as important to recognize the small wins as the big ones.
